The "keyboard port" you refer to must be the round PS2 port that is still found on older PC's. Are you using a barcode scanner that is connected in line with your keyboard and this port? If so, my next question is are you using the AC adapter that came with the bar code scanner? If your bar code scanner is USB, is it connected the PC or to a USB hub. If you are using a USB hub, does it have its own AC adapter?
Also, I believe you mentioned you had a wireless mouse. I have had problems in the past wherte the wireless mouse worked fine but other things didn't. Try changing the battery in the mouse. |

Power setting are set to minimal, Hibernation is not enabled. I am not using a USB hub.
There was not a problem on this computer until about two upgrades ago.
I made a mistake in my previous post, after tracing the cables, I realized my keyboard is not USB, but plugged into the keyboard port on the computer.
When the keyboard is locked, the primary sympton is that I start off entering a quantity for say, number of pages of fax or copies. they num keypad is not work and num lock is on. I if click on memo or sku button, the keyboard works fine.
I heard a few months ago that others were having this same problem. Did they just give up and use a workaround, or find a solution?
Any other suggestions appreciated.
Thanks,
-Bob

I also have been having the same problem for months. Support said it was because I wasn't using the ship to/POS buttons to transfer back and forth which isn't actually the case. The screen will not minimize either. It is a very brief delay before the keyboard "freezes". Pain the the posterior when we're looking for speed in processing a customer. |

Check your Power settings in the Windows Control Panel and majke sure nothing is set to hibernate or go off after a certain amount of time. The other thing I suspect may be your USB keyboard. Do you use a USB hub, a device that gives you more USB ports? If so, does the hub have its own AC adapter? |

Now that things are a little slower, could someone looking into why the POS keyboard stops responding after sitting idle for a couple of minutes. This has been going on a couple of months, and the only workaround that I know is to either 1) cancel a nonexistent transaction, or 2)switch over to the shipping screen and then back. I am using a standard keyboard and USB wireless mouse, and have no problems with the mouse. Thanks,
